The RaceViewer controls appear on up to three rectangular areas
that are drawn over the race scene. These are the Toolbar, the Race
Positions list and the Track Plan.
The Control Windows can be resized, relocated or hidden. To move
a control window from it's default positon, drag it's edge with the
mouse. To hide a control window, click on it's top right corner. To
change the size, drag the bottom right corner. The new positions of
your control windows will be saved when you close the viewer and will
be restored when you run the viewer again. To restore the original
positions, click on the "Restore Defaults" buttons on the Settings
window.
When hidden, the toolbar will appear as a "T" symbol in the bottom
left corner of the screen. Click on this symbol or press the T key
to restore the toolbar. The "T" symbol itself can be removed by un-checking
the "Show Toolbar as Icon" option on the settings window. |

This button pauses the race you are currently viewing. |

This button resumes playing the race at normal speed. |
|

This button rewinds the race. |
|

This button fast forwards the race that you are currently
viewing. |
|
|
This button rewinds the race in slow motion. |
|

This button allows you to view the race in slow
motion. |

This button takes you to the start of the
previous scene. Each race is broken up into a number of scenes,
including the start, the approach to the finish post and the
finish itself.

This button takes you to the start of the next
scene. |

Please Note: The race is broken up into 5 scenes:
- Fly By Starting Sequence
- Walking Parade
- Start of Race
- Middle of Race
- Photo Finish
- Winners Circle
These buttons can be used to jump between any of the above scenes. |

The Auto Camera provides views of the race
that are automatically generated by the RaceViewer.
|

|
The Follow Camera is a camera
that follows the selected horse while being controlled by the
user. Sliders to control the camera will appear at the edges
of the screen when in Follow Cam mode. Drag these sliders to
control the elevation of the camera, rotate around the horse
and zoom in and out. The selected horse can be changed by clicking
on a horse name in the Race Positions pop-up (see below).

The Jockey Camera provides a selected jockey's
view of the race. Drag the rotation slider at the bottom of
the screen to look around. The selected jockey can be changed
by by clicking on a horse name in the Race Positions pop-up
(see below).

This button displays a plan of the track.
The starting gate and finish post positions are marked by green
and blue dots respectively. The red dot indicates the current
position of the lead horse during the race.

This button shows the Race Positions window,
which provides a list of the horses participating in the race.
The list changes dynamically during the race according to the
current positions of the horses. Clicking on a horse's name
will highlight that horse in the race, and change the selected
horse for the Follow and Jockey cameras.

Click on this button to search for the race
you would like to view. This Search functionality allows you
to search for race by:
-
Date (enter a start and end date)
- Race Type
- Race Category
- Distance
- Track
- Horse Name

The Settings window allows you to customise
your RaceViewer according to your particular needs and preferences.
A detailed explanation of each setting appears below.

Closes the RaceViewer application.

The following options are provided on the Settings
window:
- Enable Shadows - Turns shadows on or off. The RaceViewer may run a little faster when shadows are off.
- Show Toolbar as Icon - Turns on or off the display
of the "T" symbol in the bottom left corner when the toolbar
is hidden.
- Show Frames per Second in Java Console - The current
average frame rate will be listed in the Java Console, which
can be turned on from the Webstart Console.
- Texture Linear Filter - Controls the quality of rendering.
The RaceViewer may run a little faster when this is off. Note
that changes to this option will only take effect the next
time a race is viewed and will not affect the current race
being viewed.
- Enable Specular - Turns on or off the reflective highlights
especially on the jockey's silks. The RaceViewer may run a
little faster when this is off. Note that changes to this option
will only take effect the next time a race is viewed and will
not affect the current race being viewed.
- Full Screen - If selected, then the RaceViewer will
be displayed in full-screen mode the next time it is started.
- Window Decorations - these are the borders, title
bar and buttons that surround the RaceViewer screen.
- Enable Sound - Turn this off if your PC does not support
sound
