RC interviews bigboysteve
RC: What sparked your interest in Raceclubs? bigboysteve: The only reason I got involved in Raceclubs was thru a friend from work who owns “Middleham Racing”. He explained what the virtual site was about so I logged on and had a go.
RC: What motivated you, to remain a loyal player on Raceclubs? bigboysteve: I have been motivated to remain a loyal player to Raceclubs because of the other friendly owners on the site and the friendly advise offered by others when needed. Plus the virtual horse racing is so much fun.
RC: When you started the game back in the beginning days, who was your personal motivator on Raceclubs? bigboysteve: I started at the end of October. I was so in over my head to try and understand what I had to do, and made quite a few mistakes to start off. But I took advice from the big owners on what to do so I must say a big thank you to “Dallas1” from all the help he has given the Newbie’s as well as “Ken Allan” plus many more.
RC: Are you involved in real horse racing and if so in what capacity? bigboysteve: I was once involved in real racing when I was a manager of a bookmakers, however used to have the odd bet on Saturdays. Since I joined Raceclubs, I have not bothered apart from a bet on the Grand National.
RC: How does Virtual Horse Racing on Raceclubs compare to real horse racing? bigboysteve: Virtual Horse Racing is so much fun especially when you know a lot of the owners and have a friendly rivalry with them. I love the game and personally think it is a lot better than real racing and not so expensive once you have learnt the game.
RC: What are your favorite real horse racing events? bigboysteve: Since I don’t bet on real horse racing any more. I have lost touch with the real world and some would agree with that more ways than one. I would say I always liked Aintree and Cheltenham.
RC: When away from Raceclubs, do you have any other hobbies or interests away from virtual horse racing? bigboysteve: I use to be a very good dart player and have won a lot of Trophies from league games and large tournaments. However with Work and Virtual Horse Racing I have not played darts for a long time so the rest of my time is spent in the garden because I am a little green fingered and love to grow my own veg.
RC: Tell us about your first winner and your other top horses bigboysteve: Well, can’t remember my first winner, must be my old age setting in. My top horses have to be “Winners Post”, “Super Fast Sarah”, “Dolores Rocket” I bought for a bargain £55.00 in the February Auctions with low wins and “Duchess Sarah” as well, and my new boy “Capricorn 1”. These horses earn great money for my stable and make the enjoyment a lot better because I love winners in my stable and they perform great in level weight races. . RC: Tell us about your best win and why it meant so much to you as a stable owner bigboysteve: Well my best win was my first, however been so long ago can’t remember the name. Since then I have learnt the game, every win is so great and I make sure I watch every winning race and hopefully keep knocking the wins in for the stable.
RC: List some of your top achievements bigboysteve: I am afraid I don’t have any top achievements apart from being in the Top owners page for wins. I have cut my stable down since last season, and I am still doing so well so I would say that is an achievement in itself.
RC: Tell us about your most memorable moments on Raceclubs? bigboysteve: My most memorable moment on Raceclubs was when Sarah picked up the lucky text tip because she liked the name of the horse a 22-1 shot and had a chat with the guys on sky and Sarah had to answer the question to win £25 for the stable. She was so embarrassed and it was so funny.
RC: What was you most embarrassing moment on Raceclubs? bigboysteve: Most embarrassing moment had to be Sarah, because she hates talking to people on the phone so when Getminted phone I had to chase her round the room to get her to answer the question. I think the Getminted boys had fun and I got an ear bashing for a few days.
RC: What would you typically do before a big/major racing event? bigboysteve: Before a big race I have a Fosters and chat to the lads on MSN then we analyze the race afterwards. I run my horses for fun if they win it’s a bonus and I bet any of the boys on MSN they get home sick.
RC: What are your goals for future racing on Raceclubs? bigboysteve: My goals for the future is to have a stable with all horses capable of level weights, because those horses will make money to run you stable and get bonus credits to buy tack items as well as extra horses out of the sales ring also to win major races.
RC: What advice would you give to New Raceclubs Members? bigboysteve: The best advice to new members is study and ask questions, don’t jump in headfirst. Buy a couple of horses from the claimers to study time trials and to learn grading and hopefully they will win a little money for you. If you are, buying from the Auctions buy with low wins and if you buy a horse with high wins make sure they can compete in level weight races so they can earn the stable money.
RC: Would you be so kind as to give us and the other members a tip or two on training a horse successfully? bigboysteve: I train my horses with first 3 tts at 1400/2200/2850 then find his exact distance on first cycle and best going if possible. On the second cycle I retry best distance and goings again with all tack items with 3 tts at each because of the random on tts.
RC: Name the best horse, in your opinion, belonging to a fellow member bigboysteve: There is so many horses out there that are so good at different distances but I love to watch “Lady Killer” and “La Grand Gazza”, however also love to watch the finals of upcoming top horses and there are plenty of them.
RC: Upon your stay with Raceclubs, a lot has changed over certain periods of time - the site, game, feature’s where added and removed, and many more. Do you agree or not agree with regards to the statement made, and if so, please would you supply details? bigboysteve: I personally think you can’t please everyone and overall the decisions have been right for the best interest for the game. The new enhancements sound extremely great and I can’t wait.
RC: Are there any other comments you wish to share? bigboysteve: To get on best in the game, keep asking questions even if they sound silly because we all had to learn to start off with. We all make mistakes to start off, because it’s a learning curve so don’t give up to early and don’t jump in head first keep on trying because the game is great.
